Script for the final form of the ancient Egyptian language. Composed of 24 Greek letters plus 7 from the ancient Demotic script (31 total). Still used as the liturgical language of Egyptian Christianity (Coptic Church). Champollion used his knowledge of Coptic to decipher hieroglyphs — Coptic serves as a linguistic bridge between ancient hieroglyphics and modern Egyptian Arabic.
