Created in 2012 by American linguist Herman Mongrain Lookout to preserve the Osage language. The Osage people became temporarily the wealthiest nation per capita in America after oil was discovered in Oklahoma in the early 20th century, but their language and culture fell into rapid decline. Unicode inclusion in 2018 enabled digital use.
