Pahawh Hmong
A unique syllabary said to have been revealed through divine inspiration to Hmong leader Shong Lue Yang in 1959.
A unique syllabary said to have been revealed through divine inspiration to Hmong leader Shong Lue Yang in 1959. Its structure is entirely unlike other writing systems — uniquely using syllable finals rather than initials as its base. For the Hmong diaspora who migrated to the US and France after the Vietnam War, this script became a central symbol of identity. Added to Unicode in 2009.
