Alphabet created in 2001 by educator Banwang Losu for ~65,000 Wancho people in Arunachal Pradesh, India. A digital-native script designed from the start for computer input. Added to Unicode 13.0 in 2021; the process of the creator personally collaborating with the Unicode Committee to complete standardization is considered a model case of modern script creation. The core tool for digitally preserving the oral culture of the Wancho people on the India-Myanmar border.
