태국 북부 란나 왕국(13~18세기)의 문자.
태국 북부 란나 왕국(13~18세기)의 문자. 불교 경전과 지역 문학이 이 문자로 기록됐다. "탐"은 팔리어로 "법(法, 담마)"을 뜻하며, 주로 불교 종교 문헌에 사용됐다. 현재 태국 북부·미얀마 샨주·라오스 북부에서 타이 루에어·타이 캄어 표기에 사용된다. 치앙마이를 중심으로 란나 문화 부활 운동이 활발하며, 이 문자가 북부 태국 문화 정체성의 핵심이다.
