The first Slavic alphabet, created by Saint Cyril in 862 for Slavic missions. Predates the Cyrillic alphabet but was displaced by it. Used in Catholic Mass in Croatia until the 19th century, with 200+ medieval inscriptions surviving. Considered one of the world's most beautiful scripts for its geometric complexity — now protected as Croatian national cultural heritage.
