Sacred script of Manichaeism, the world's first missionary religion founded by the Persian prophet Mani in the 3rd century. Spread from Rome to China along the Silk Road; Manichaean texts found in Turfan document Central Asian religious exchange. Augustine of Hippo was a Manichaean before his conversion.
