Tirhuta (Maithili)

Script for the Maithili language of Bihar, India and Nepal. The 14th-century lyric poet Vidyapati wrote in this script, launching the golden age of Maithili literature. When Maithili was added to India's Eighth Schedule in 2003, the script's status was elevated accordingly.
