Script brought by the Tai-Ahom people when they migrated from Myanmar to Assam in the 13th century. The Ahom kingdom (1228–1826) famously repelled Mughal invasions 17 times over 600 years. The dynastic chronicles called Buranjis, written in this script, are the primary source for Assam's history.
