Cuneiform alphabet of the city-state of Ugarit, discovered at Ras Shamra, Syria in 1929. Used around 1400–1200 BC with 30 consonantal signs. The Baal Cycle epic found on Ugaritic tablets directly parallels Psalms in the Hebrew Bible, revolutionizing biblical scholarship. The world's oldest known alphabet order list (the prototype of the ABC sequence) was discovered at Ugarit.
