Baybayin (Tagalog Script)

Traditional script of the Tagalog people before Spanish colonization (1565). Spanish missionaries initially used it for Catholic evangelism before replacing it with Latin. In the 21st century, a powerful revival movement has made it a national identity symbol — appearing in tattoos, artwork, and official signage. In 2018, Philippine legislation pushed for its inclusion in public education.
