Shan Script

Script of the Shan people of Myanmar and Yunnan, China — one of Southeast Asia's largest ethnic minorities at ~6 million. Similar to Burmese but with its own independent system, Shan Buddhist scriptures and court chronicles were recorded in this script. Even amid Myanmar's civil war, Shan language education continues as a symbol of ethnic identity.
