Balinese Script

Traditional script of Bali, Indonesia, essential in Hindu Balinese religious rites and traditional arts — Bali being Indonesia's main Hindu region. The tradition of inscribing on palm leaves (lontar) with metal tools continues today; UNESCO has inscribed this lontar culture on the Memory of the World register. Similar to Javanese but includes its own sacred characters (aksara suci).
