Script of the Lanna kingdom of northern Thailand (13th–18th century). Buddhist scriptures and regional literature were recorded in this script. "Tham" means "dharma/law" in Pali, reflecting its primary use in Buddhist religious texts. Currently used for Tai Lue and Tai Khuen languages in northern Thailand, Shan State (Myanmar), and northern Laos. The Lanna cultural revival movement centered in Chiang Mai has made this script central to northern Thai cultural identity.
